THE MIDDLE POINT - THE ART OF MEDITATION

ABOUT IVAN RADOS

Ivan Rados is one of the most provocative and inspiring non-dualistic spiritual teachers in the contemporary world. At the age of 42, he underwent a profound inner awakening that transformed his perception of himself and reality. Following this experience, Ivan established a spiritual discipline called The Middle Point—a non-dualistic approach to wholeness, health, and self-actualization.

His books, including Health: It’s All About Consciousness, The Art of Meditation, Transform Your Life, The Middle Point, The Truth, The Language of Wholeness, and many others, are not only bestsellers but also essential reading for truth seekers worldwide.

Ivan’s contributions to the science of inner transformation have inspired numerous teachers, masters, and healers. Those who have experienced his healing or learned from him have gone on to develop their own unique and powerful conscious-responsive teaching and healing modalities. His teachings defy categorization, as he neither follows traditions nor seeks to create followers. Instead, he emphasizes the individual quest—not for the meaning of life, as many other teachers do, but for the meaning of consciousness and the liberation from attachment to the illusory mind.

Ivan describes his approach as the “true religion,” rooted in consciousness and being rather than in the mind’s ideologies, dogmas, or even New Age philosophies. “I am here to offer you my understanding of how to awaken in your consciousness, become aware of your being, transcend the mind, and be truly religious again,” he says. “Like the spiritual masters throughout human history, who did not adhere to collective belief systems but followed the path of reuniting with their own being—that is what I call a true religion.”

Deeply and authentically anchored in the unknown, Ivan possesses the insight and ability to serve the evolution of consciousness during these transformative times. He travels extensively, sharing what he refers to as his “knowingness” with the world through meditation classes, talks, intensives, and retreats.

From his healing studio in Vancouver, Canada, Ivan regularly offers meditation discourses as well as individual and group healing sessions.

Love is eternal, yet it is not permanent. It shifts and transforms in each moment, its eternal essence residing in the Now. When we attempt to fix love into a permanent state rather than embracing its eternal nature through each fleeting moment, it turns sentimental. Likewise, when we try to make bliss permanent, we give rise to the dualities of happiness and unhappiness. When we render truth permanent, it morphs into falsehood. So too, when we seek to lock health into a static condition rather than a dynamic flow of being, it manifests as disease..

Dead things are static and permanent. Everything alive, however, evolves from moment to moment, revealing its eternal quality only through its constant change. Thus, it is only to the degree that we release our attachment to any specific reality that we become free to experience the fullness of reality in its ever-flowing Nowness.

When something’s not right, meditate.

  • For many lifetimes, I struggled to grasp the unattainable, enduring a deep and persistent discontent in my pursuit. Yet, nothing was ever achieved. One morning, in my art studio in Halifax, England, after five days of meditation, I attempted to rise and return home for food, but my body gave out. I collapsed to the floor, unable to move.

There I lay, conscious, yet with nothing to be conscious of. Time dissolved—whether it was half a day, a full day, or two, I cannot say. In that timeless expanse, a single thought pierced the silence: “I am a total failure.” That thought tore through my mind, igniting an excruciating headache. The notion of failing to attain swelled into an overwhelming sense of being a failure—a visceral, mental, and emotional weight so crushing I longed to die. “That’s it,” I declared, “I don’t want to function.” I abandoned all wanting, desiring, and striving. But it wasn’t a giving up—it was a giving in. I surrendered to nothing. And in that surrender, I found my attainment.

What did I attain that morning in Halifax? Nothing!

I attained nothing because the one who had yearned to attain was no longer there. He had surrendered himself to nothing. For so long, I had tried every conceivable method to achieve, fueled by a deep belief and fierce conviction that attainment was my destiny, that one day I would succeed. But the moment I relinquished the search, the craving to attain, I gave in to the truth. I let go of the belief that I needed to attain anything, and in that release, I attained nothing—just the awareness that I am. Not a thought of it, not a feeling of it, but a knowing: I am.

  • It is important to understand that I am not going to discuss any system of beliefs or dogma, or any contemporary philosophy or new age spirituality. I am not interested in metaphysics, because

I am not dominated by the mind and possessed by dry thoughts. I don’t represent so-called religions, which has been exploited humanity for thousands of years. I am all for the true religion which deals with consciousness and being, not with the mind and its ideologies. I am here to offer you my understanding beyond the mind and its boundaries, how to awake in your consciousness, become aware of your being, and to be religious again.

Be open, receptive and listen with your heart. If you are listening with your mind, include the heart in that process. The mind can listen only to that which fits with its own structure of beliefs. Also, do not avoid listening to that which you see as a disturbance, otherwise you will work against your awakening.

I will provide an opening for you to love yourself through the Art of Meditation. I will guide you to the Language of Wholeness, but for that to be alive in your heart, you have to be aware that ‘I’ will not be present but only sharing information as it comes and goes like a swinging door. If you are looking at me as the source of your knowledge, you will be disappointed and in disagreement with your knowingness.

To speak the Language of Wholeness you need nothing, just a different attitude, and your commitment to be who you are naturally and existentially. You are always in the middle, that is the whole point of religion. You are The Middle Point and that is your Being.

Working with Ivan has been simply put, life-changing. As a Researcher, a Clinical Psychologist, and a person who has sought the healing of my own internal wounds I have worked with a range of healers that hail from a wide range of orientations, philosophies, and cultures.

When thinking back on all the people I have met over the years, Ivan is one of the best, if not the best healer, I have ever worked with!

Let me provide a little background about myself so you understand my perspective. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Michigan, I then went to Harvard University to train in cardiovascular epidemiology and stayed on as a Research Faculty member. I am now an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. I consider myself a scientist and some might call me hyper-intellectual.

Before meeting Ivan, I was, an overthinker. I suffered from analysis-paralysis, a preoccupation with a whole range of scenarios about future events, and a deep anxiety about most topics. However, via numerous sessions with Ivan where he taught me central philosophical ideas that I now cherish, several meditative breathing practices, various new mindsets that helped me reconceptualize my anxieties, as well as guided psilocybin sessions - I am substantially calmer. I would say that my anxiety levels have reduced by 80%. I am deeply thankful for his ability to reduce my anxiety because if our minds are like a computer, I believe I was spending roughly 25% of my “mental RAM” managing various anxiety symptoms. Throughout my adult life, I spent a reasonable amount of time learning methods I could use to help equip my toolbox of symptom management techniques. However, as I’ve been working on the core root issues of my anxiety (perhaps it can be thought of as a “computer virus” that had infected my mind) I feel as if I have been working on the root cause of all these symptoms and finally debugging a virus which was weaved into my psychological DNA throughout childhood. Thus, even without having to use my array of anxiety management techniques or medications, various symptoms that I had to deal with before only faintly appear in my life. Thus, I am dedicating perhaps only about ~5% of my “mental RAM” to symptom management. This allows me to use a much larger portion of my mental processing power on being present in the moment when with others or enjoying life, and diving into states of deep “flow” when working.

I think Ivan is so incredibly effective at healing because he has a deep and authentic desire to help others, a vast and deep knowledge of several philosophical and spiritual traditions, an ability to create a wonderfully safe healing environment, decades of working with clients – which is a vast database of knowledge that he can draw upon to synthesize and customize a solution for the situation at hand, and a profoundly calm spirit of hope.

I am deeply grateful for having met Ivan because he helped me heal in profound ways.

Thank you Ivan Rados from the bottom of my heart.
